Nature b-roll for a wellness brand reel: pick, pace, license
Nature b-roll for a wellness brand reel does one job: it sets a calm mood before your words land. This guide shows you which shots work, how to pace them in a 30 second vertical reel, what Wavecrate's video categories really hold, and why a brand's own reel needs a paid license even when a clip is marked Free.
Why nature b-roll for a wellness brand reel works
A wellness reel sells a feeling: rested, clear, looked after. You cannot film a feeling, but you can film things people link to it. Slow water, soft light and leaves in wind all do that.
B-roll is the footage that runs under your voice or text. It also does practical work:
- It covers your voiceover. You do not need a face on screen for every line.
- It hides cuts. Slow motion lets you trim a talking clip without a visible jump.
- It carries text. A calm sky or a blurred field is a clean surface for captions.
The risk is that many wellness brands use the same shots. Your colors, your pacing and one or two shots nobody else has are what make the reel yours. On Wavecrate, you can preview loops and read each clip's license before it goes into your reel.

What makes a shot feel calm
Not all nature footage is calming. A crashing wave or a fast pass over cliffs feels exciting, not restful. Look for these qualities instead:
- Slow, steady motion. Drifting clouds, a gentle stream, grass in light wind.
- Soft light. Early morning, overcast days, light through leaves.
- Simple frames. One subject and plenty of space.
- Close details. Water drops, bark, steam rising from a cup.
- Out-of-focus light. Soft blurred lights sit behind text without asking for attention.
Skip shaky handheld clips, harsh midday sun and anything with a strong subject that fights your message.
What Wavecrate's Nature videos actually hold
Read a category before you plan a reel around it. On 11 October 2026 the Nature video category listed 10 loops by Latent Frame. They are stylized scenes with technology in them, not filmed nature footage.

- Digital forest Loop (marked Free): layers of a misty pine forest at night, with points of data light rising between the trees. A 16 second 4K loop, tagged calm and mysterious.
- Drone over the coast Loop (Premium): a drone hovering over a rocky coast at sunset, its scanner sweeping the waves. An 8 second 4K loop.
- Satellite farm fields loops (some marked Free): farmland seen from a satellite, with an AI scan band marking each field.
For a wellness brand, the misty forest is the closest fit, if your brand is comfortable with the data lights. The drone and the scan bands send a tech message, which suits a sleep tracker or a health app more than a herbal tea. For true nature b-roll (water, plants, sky), film your own on a phone. That also gives you shots no other brand has.
Use motion backgrounds for your text cards
Where Wavecrate helps most in a wellness reel is behind your words. Two calm loops in the Motion backgrounds category, both marked Free on the day of writing:
- Drifting Golden Bokeh: "Warm out-of-focus lights drifting slowly upward." Full HD, 10 seconds, no sound.
- Slow Gradient Flow: "Blue and violet gradients drifting slowly, for titles and presentations." Full HD, 10 seconds, no sound.
Place one between your nature shots as a text card for your key line or your offer. Previews carry a small moving watermark; licensed files are clean.
Mind the shape. A reel is vertical, 9:16. Crop a 4K landscape frame (3840 by 2160) to 9:16 and you keep about 1215 by 2160 pixels, enough for a 1080 by 1920 reel. Crop a Full HD frame the same way and you keep about 608 by 1080, which looks soft. Blurred lights and gradients hide softness well, so the two Full HD loops are fine as text backgrounds. For sharp detail, pick 4K with the resolution filter, or use the Portrait orientation filter.
Pace it: a 30 second reel, shot by shot
Calm footage still needs rhythm. Hold every clip for 8 seconds and people scroll away. Cut every half second and it stops feeling calm. Two to four seconds a shot is a good range. Here is a plan for a 30 second reel for a herbal tea brand:
- 0 to 4 seconds: your own close shot of steam rising from a cup by a window, with your opening line on screen.
- 4 to 10 seconds: two of your own outdoor shots, leaves and a slow stream, three seconds each.
- 10 to 16 seconds: the misty forest loop, cropped to 9:16, under your voiceover about winding down at night.
- 16 to 24 seconds: your product on a table in soft light, then a hand pouring.
- 24 to 30 seconds: Drifting Golden Bokeh behind your offer and your brand name.
Cut on movement where you can, such as a leaf moving or a hand starting to pour. Keep transitions plain; a soft crossfade at most.
Which license a brand reel needs
This is the trap. A reel that promotes your brand is your own marketing. On the pricing page, the photos and videos table starts "Apps, presentations and your own marketing" at Standard. The Free license covers online and social posts with credit, including monetized channels, but not your own marketing. Paid licenses are not on sale yet: Wavecrate says purchases open soon, so the prices below are the listed prices for when sales open, while items marked Free can already be downloaded with a free account.
Take Drifting Golden Bokeh, marked Free on the day of writing (items can change between Free and Premium, so read the page again on the day you download), through three uses:
- Your personal wellness channel, with credit: the Free license covers it. Credit text goes next to the clip or in the description.
- Your brand's own reel: Standard, listed at $29 for this clip, with no credit needed. Pro also covers it: listed at $99 a year or $12 month to month and not on sale yet, it gives Standard on everything.
- A reel you make for a client brand, or one you pay to promote: Extended, listed at $99 for this clip. Pro never includes Extended.
The same three steps apply to your music, which has its own license. Every license comes with a certificate and a code anyone can check on the verify page, so keep each one with the project.
Frequently asked questions
Are Wavecrate's Nature videos real filmed footage?
No. On 11 October 2026 they were stylized loops with technology in them, such as data lights in a forest and a drone scanning a coast. Film your own for true nature shots.
Can I use a Free clip in my brand's reel?
Not with the Free license. A brand's own reel is its own marketing, which starts at Standard.
Does Pro cover a boosted reel?
No. A reel you pay to promote is a paid ad, and paid ads are Extended only.
How long should each shot be?
Two to four seconds works for most calm reels. Hold the first shot a little longer if it carries your opening line.
