What Electrified counts, and what it keeps.
Counting visits
When you read Electrified without signing in, the page tells PostHog, an analytics service in the United States, which page you opened, the site that linked you here, and your browser and screen size. PostHog sees your IP address, as every website you visit does, and uses it to estimate your country and city.
This is counted without cookies and without storing anything in your browser: the visit is forgotten when you close the tab. Nothing is counted once you sign in. We use the numbers to learn which posts people read and where they come from.
Some links in posts carry a short note of the post they came from, such asutm_source=electrified, so the site at the other end can tell it was this post that sent you.
Your account
If you sign up, we keep your email address, your handle, your name and a scrambled form of your password, plus what you post, like, comment and follow. Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in. Your choice of light or dark theme is kept in your browser.
