Soft pastel gradients for a wedding invitation video: a guide

Soft pastel gradients for a wedding invitation video work because they give you color without detail: nothing competes with the names and the date. This guide picks the palette, adds slow motion, keeps the text readable, chooses a romantic track and shows which license covers the result.

Wavecrate has gradient photos and looping gradient videos you can filter by color, orientation and resolution, plus music you can filter by mood, and every download comes with a license certificate and a code anyone can check.

Why a gradient suits an invitation

An invitation video has a small job. It shows who is getting married, when and where, and it should feel like the couple. A busy background fights with that. A soft gradient does not, and it still looks gentle on a phone, where most invitations get watched.

Keep it short. Think of four cards: a title, the names, the date and place, and a closing card. About ten seconds of background per card is plenty, and a ten second loop covers it.

Soft pastel gradients for a wedding invitation video: what to pick

Start from the wedding colors, not from the footage. Match two colors from the flowers, dress or printed invitations, and let the third be a neutral. Then open the collections page. The Backgrounds for designers collection is described as gradients, textures and motion loops to put behind titles, slides and social posts, and it held six items when read on 22 October 2026. These suit an invitation:

  • Pastel Gradient Background: a photo of a light gradient in peach, lilac and sky blue, 4000 x 2667 pixels, marked Premium.
  • Ocean Blue Fluid Gradient: flowing blues and aqua with a touch of lilac, a square 3000 x 3000 photo, marked Free.
  • Slow Gradient Flow: blue and violet gradients drifting slowly, a Full HD video of 10 seconds with no sound, marked Free.
  • Vertical Pink Gradient for Stories: a 9:16 video in pink, coral and violet, 1080 x 1920, 10 seconds, marked Premium.
  • Warm Paper Texture: cream paper with fine fibers, marked Free, a soft stationery base to sit under a gradient.

Peach, lilac and sky blue fit a spring or garden wedding. The cooler blues fit a beach or evening wedding. Items can change between Free and Premium, so read the item page on the day you download.

Keep the gradient smooth and slow

Banding is the visible stripes you sometimes see in a smooth fade. It shows most in soft, low-contrast gradients, which is what pastels are. A few habits reduce it:

  • Start from the biggest file. Pastel Gradient Background comes as an original of 4000 x 2667, so you have room to crop and scale.
  • Use one gradient as the base and keep the layers above it flat, instead of stacking several see-through gradients.
  • Preview on a phone, not only on your monitor, and change the crop if you see stripes.
  • Do not shrink the file in your first export. Check it first, then compress.

Now the motion. It should feel like breathing. If a viewer notices it, it is too fast.

You have two routes. The first is a ready-made loop: Slow Gradient Flow is a 10 second Full HD clip described as being for titles and presentations. It leans blue and violet, so it suits a cooler palette. The second is to animate a still yourself. Take the Pastel Gradient Background and add a very slow scale from 100 to about 105 percent across the card, with a slow sideways drift if you like. Keep both subtle. If you have not placed a looping clip under other content before, the post on loops for a biotech explainer shows the same steps.

Keep names and dates readable

Pastel backgrounds are light, so white text disappears. Use a deep, muted color for the words, such as charcoal, plum or dark navy, picked to echo the palette.

  • Put the names in the largest type and keep them to two lines.
  • Set the date and venue smaller, with plenty of space around them.
  • Stay inside the center of the frame, because phone screens cover the edges.
  • Fade text in over about a second and hold each card long enough to read twice.

For a vertical invitation, start from Vertical Pink Gradient for Stories. It is already 1080 x 1920, so you do not crop a landscape clip.

Choose a romantic track

The music should say what the colors say: calm, warm, a little hopeful. Wavecrate lets you filter music by mood, tempo, key and energy, and its moods include romantic and hopeful. Two Free tracks fit:

  • Quiet Resolve is a Cinematic track by Orrin Hale. Its page describes strings, low brass and timpani building toward a big finish, hopeful and romantic, good for wedding and documentary. It runs 1:21.
  • Porch Light is an Acoustic track by Sable & Finch: plucked and strummed guitars with a light shaker, happy and romantic, good for travel and wedding. It runs 1:20.

Quiet Resolve is the more solemn choice, Porch Light the lighter one. Listen to both under your cards before you decide. The gradient clips have no sound of their own, so the music carries the whole mood. For more on cutting strings-led music to a short video, see cinematic strings for a book trailer video.

A worked example: four cards, one week

Day one: pick the wedding colors and download Slow Gradient Flow and Quiet Resolve. Day two: lay the gradient under four cards of about ten seconds each, with the names card first. Day three: set the text in deep plum, fade each card in over a second and check it on a phone. Day four: add the music, then export 1920 x 1080 for a website or link, and 1080 x 1920 for stories if you also want a phone version.

Which license covers it

Items marked Free can be downloaded with a free account, which gives you three free downloads a month. The Free license for photos and videos covers websites, blogs and social media posts, and wants a credit line next to the photo or in the description. For music, the Free license covers online videos and podcasts, with credit text in the description. Paste any credit text exactly as the page gives it.

Paid licenses are not on sale yet: purchases open soon. When they do, the item pages list Standard at $9 for a photo like Pastel Gradient Background and $29 for a video like Vertical Pink Gradient for Stories. Standard has no credit line. Client work is an Extended row, so a video you make for a couple as a paid job needs Extended. The pages do not name wedding videos, screenings at the venue or private copies, so treat those as not covered and read the pricing page and each card before you rely on one. A gradient marked Free still needs Standard if the video is your own business marketing.

Every download comes with a certificate and a code. Paste the code in the description and anyone can check it on the verify page.
